The Friends group is asking for donations to help purchase two laptop computers for the library. Their computers are several years old, two have completely stopped functioning.
Having computers for public use is vital! Patrons conduct job searches, research, and type papers for school or college. Many people are sent to libraries by their employers to download and print check stubs and tax information. Children come into the library to find school projects online or sometimes just simply want to play games.
The computers that we would like to purchase for the library are HP Laptops, 15.6 HD display, 4GB Memory, and 500GB Hard Drive with Windows 10. The cost per computer is approximately $288.
Donations may be made to: Friends of J.T. Biggs, Jr. Memorial Library, 200 S. Jackson St., Crystal Springs, MS 39059
Thank you for your continued support of one of our town's greatest assets!

How did librarians fit in to national security in the 20th century? In an array of ways, says Cara Bertram, an archivist for the American Library Association. Libraries were established at hospitals and military bases.
"In both wars, librarians back at home or on the front were key in collecting and distributing books to soldiers," Bertram says. "During World War I, librarians maintained camp and hospital libraries," and in both world wars, "librarians promoted books drives and encouraged donations."
Librarians were especially active during World War I. The ALA reports that between 1917 and 1920, its Library War Service established three dozen camp libraries with the support of the Carnegie Corporation and raised $5 million in public contributions. Special uniforms were created for librarians in World War I. The American Library in Paris— established in 1920 by the ALA and American expatriates, and seeded with books from the LWS — continues to this day. Source: American Library Association

Toddlers enjoyed yoga at the beach today! They enjoyed story time and learned about sea creatures, colors of the ocean, and enjoyed a yoga session. Parents and grandparents enjoyed craft time with the children. During craft time, each made a bookmark, and got their own yoga bandana.
